Inference Ace 2 is Available!

I’m excited to announce the release of Inference Ace 2!
.
.
This app wasn’t on our original development road map, but after testing Inference Ace, we knew we had to develop Inference Ace 2.
.
The reason?  Even though our testers were learning how to make great inferences, they had trouble when we asked them questions like, “Which words let you guess it was night time?”
.
So Inference Ace 2 focuses on helping kids identify which clue words lead to an inference and which inference follows from specific clue words. As usual, we have graduated learning, fun rewards, and timers to ensure fluency!
.
We’re glad we deviated off our path to bring you this app.  If a child in your life needs to work on inferences, make sure they have the complete skill set by including Inference Ace 2 in your tool kit.
.
Stay tuned…our next app will help kids learn to identify the main idea of a text!

A Book Site HappyFrogMoms Will Love

To celebrate Mother’s Day, I decided to talk about one of my favorite websites.  Is it about ways to care for your mom? No.  Is it ten recipes for healthy smoothies to help mom feel good?  No.

It’s about books, of course!!

Most moms who visit the Happy Frog Apps website are worried about their child’s reading skills.  So, I wanted to tell you about about the Autism Reads site.

The mom who writes this low-key site knows how hard it is to find books to interest struggling readers, especially kids with Autism.  So she lets us know what has worked for her…and what hasn’t.  It’s a great resource.  I know I’ve found a bunch of ideas to help with the kids in my life.

Visit the site, browse the books and hopefully you’ll find something to entice the resistant reader in your life 🙂

And if you don’t find something there…then may I recommend the current FAVORITE of our household:  Billy Twitters and His Blue Whale Problem.  (Yes, it is as fun as it sounds!)

Happy Mother’s Day and Happy Reading!

We are in the Top 3!

In all the excitement of our first month on the app store, I forgot to announce the release of our second app, Inference Ace!

S1main
Inference Ace has been in the app store for about a week and it has rocketed to the top 3 in the app store search results for the key word ‘inference’! We are even in the top 10 for ‘comprehension’! Fantastic!

Inference Ace is a great app for practicing inferences. Unlike other apps, inferences are taught from multiple perspectives: what inferences are possible, which are not possible, multiple inferences per sentence, etc.

And of course we use our ‘Smart Sentence’ technology to vary the sentence each time it is seen by the user. (Though with over 450 inferences, it will take a while before you see the same inference again!)

We’re very happy with Inference Ace and know that it will be a great part of any reading comprehension program.

Try it out! It’s free to download and you can trial the first four levels. After that, the remaining 30 or so levels are a bargain at $1.99!

You can check the app out on the app store.
