Today’s task is to… make up a story!

Help your child choose a setting (Where does this story take place? Is it fanciful? Is it a mystery? Is it a true story? etc.) Make up some characters for your story. Then ask your child to dictate a made-up story to you.

Write/type it down just as he or she says. Please be encouraging. No criticisms!

Keep the story going by asking questions to lead your child into new thoughts.

At the end, read it back, or even better, ask your child to read it.

Congratulate your child on an excellent job!
